This is Brooklyn. Yep, she’s adorable. She’s also the daughter of my cousin Shawn and his gorgeous wife Britt. I met up with little B and mama B at Yunker’s Farm on a freakishly warm day in January. We had a grand ol’ time climbing trees, playing phone and basking in the warm winter air.

Sweet Lucas

Sweet Lucas was just a couple weeks old during our session earlier in January. He was so excited for his photo shoot that he barely slept a wink. It didn’t matter though. He has the cutest little eyes.

Jenna & Brady: The Engagement Session

Of all the freakishly warm days we’ve had this winter, the day I photographed Jenna and Brady was not one of them. In fact, the day of our shoot was cold… bitter cold… like not feeling your fingers after five minutes cold. But, that didn’t phase this enthusiastic and upbeat couple. We kept on moving and used humor to ease the pain.

Wedding Love: Mustache Mania

Okay, I know mustaches are so ’10 – both 2010 and 1910 – but I couldn’t resist highlighting the crazy phenomenon that has become the mustache resurrection. Plus, next month (March 1st, to be exact) the Hotel Donaldson is throwing their annual Bros on Broadway bash. It’s seriously the highlight of my winter and such a great time to give back to the dudes.

Okay now, lets think about, what in the world could be more fun, more quirky, more outrageous than planning your wedding around mustaches? It’s completely brilliant PLUS the groom has an excuse to grow some stellar facial hair. That makes everyone happy, right?

It wouldn’t be a lie if I told you that I adore things in nice packages. I am, like so many lovers of design, one of those people that will buy a product just because it looks pretty. It’s embarrassing, really. Almost as embarassing as my triangle obsession on Pinterest.

Well, friends, I’m downright giddy over my new print packaging. I can’t wait to send out your beautiful prints in one of these pretty green boxes!

Liv is Five

I really can’t believe little Liv is five years old already. Seriously, it seems like just yesterday that I was photographing her as a wee 3-month-old in her grandparent’s sun room. And now, five years later, she’s reciting random facts and playing “teacher.”

This little girl has, by far, been my longest and most consistent subject. I’ve photographed her as a wee baby, a sassy toddler, a precocious preschooler and now an inquisitive kiddo. She is daring and sweet, beautiful and funny and the greatest big sister around.

Photographing people like Liv that has cemented me in my career path. There is a joy and a privilege of watching someone grow into a big person, and the ability to document that process is by far and away the most rewarding aspect of my job.

Throughout these five years, I’ve photographed Liv in all sorts of locations – from the campus of Concordia to the grungy alleys of downtown Fargo. This time, we stayed indoors and met up at the beautiful Plains Art Museum in downtown Fargo. It was a fitting venue for this bright little lady.
