Well, here we are in a brand new year. Sure, it's only been six days into 2017, but I'm feeling real good about this odd year. I've been a busy bee since returning from a much needed holiday break - and since I gave up facebook in this new year (no worries - just my personal FB), I'm finding it's much, much easier to get things done. I have grand plans to post a "favorite images of 2016" post (or two, or three? maybe even four) but I have yet to share two totally awesome weddings I photographed in December. First up, Kyla and Jayme's winter-ful wedding in Kindred, ND.Jaymes and Kyla (especially Kyla) are big fans of winter. So, planning their wedding around the holiday season was a given. While their wedding day was cold, it didn't stop these two from braving the weather to get a few snowy portraits outside. In retrospect, having a cold winter day for their wedding day portraits was perfect. While warm winter weather is nice, it also poses a huge problem: wet, icky snow. This wasn't a problem on Kyla & Jaymes' wedding day. Nope. It was so cold that the snow had no interest in sticking to Kyla's gorgeous wedding dress!Kyla and Jaymes were married at St. Maurice's Catholic Church in Kindred, a church they've both attended throughout their lives. Before our adventures outside, Kyla put on her dress in the very same room where she had confirmation classes with Jaymes way back when. Now, isn't that adorable? It was important to Kyla and Jaymes to read letters from each other before their first look, and they did so back to back in the sanctuary. There were a few happy tears. After their first look, we headed outside (and inside a few times to thaw) for portraits.

Then inside again for a few more intimate portraits in the confirmation room.Somehow, we persuaded the rest of the wedding party to join us back outside. There were a few, light-hearted complaints but no frostbite. I consider that a success.

The ceremony was lovely and peaceful.Afterwards, we all headed to Fargo to celebrate with Kyla and Jaymes at the Avalon Event Center. The room was full of Christmas cheer. We ended the night capturing a few images of their dance.
